Writing a book would probably even pay more than writing articles as a journalist - another option that you'd rather take if you want to earn money. For the journalist however, no matter what the brilliant words you put in your articles it would really be difficult to get a good pay for it. Therefore, if you want to make a good amount of money out of a career then this would not be your best choice.

No promotional offers Promotions and even getting credits and incentives for a good job done is not always offered for journalists. One usually gets promoted as soon as he or she does an exceptional job, she then gets a position on the higher or next level wherein in the journalism industry is absent - you are often stuck in your position. Being a journalist however confines you to specific skill requirements that would be required from you over and over again regardless if you have been very good at it. The only thing close to promotion that you?ll get is when you will be transferred to a new company or firm.

Live a dangerous life Obviously, being a journalist would need one to go to places where danger is present. This is the only means on how journalists can convey the situation to readers, listeners and viewers by being onsite despite the dangers. This can include dangerous situations or environments such as interviewing soldiers while in a camp, getting an update on a widespread virus in certain areas, having to try out an extreme sport that people are hyped about and everything. Therefore, it would be safe to say that if you want to be a journalist you need to have a strong heart, be brave as well as can take challenges.

You will often be criticized Most people that will do these criticisms will be fellow journalists, writers, and even your team. Criticisms happen when you lack information in your article or if you have failed to gather enough in your report. These criticisms may be very hard to take and handle for some journalists and some break or even quit their jobs after. If you lack emotional stability and can?t take criticisms then better thing twice about getting in the journalism industry.
