Marriage Records Kentucky Free List Online

The state of Kentucky implements the Freedom of Information Act. With this, the public documents of the state can be obtained by its local residents anytime they have a need for it. Kentucky marriage license records are among the public documents that can be obtained.

Marriage certificates in the state of Kentucky are used in a number of reasons. Updating the family tree would require looking at a number of documents to be able to completely update the family history and one of the important documents used as reference is the marriage record. When doing some transactions with the government that may involve the finances of the couple, a marriage certificate may be one of the documents that need to be provided in order to proceed with any request. The document is also used as reference by people who checks on the marital status of the one's they are going out with.

A marriage certificate would contain information about the couple's marriage. One would know the names of the bride and the groom as well as the date and the place when the marriage took place. The marriage certificate would also contain information about the couple such as their address and job titles at the time of their marriage. The names of the couple's parents are also indicated on the file together with the names of the witnesses to the marriage.

In Kentucky, requesting for a copy of a marriage certificate has to be done at the county where the marriage took place. Although the Vital Records Section manages and archives the marriage records of the state, the said office is not allowed to release a copy of such file. The office can only verify the information as to where the document can be obtained and this verification cost only $6. When the request is made at the county where the marriage has been registered, another processing fee has to be paid. The processing fee is not the same for all the counties of the state.

The state of Kentucky only releases a copy of the marriage certificate if the marriage occurred since June 1958. One has to submit a request form containing the basic details of the document being requested as well as the personal details of the one who filed the request. One has to indicate their reason for obtaining such document. The state of Kentucky only releases the document if the one who filed it is either the bride or the groom or their immediate family. Requests can be sent by mail but it can take several days before the document can be obtained.

Kentucky marriage and divorce records are available online. Doing the search online is faster and convenient since it can be done even without going to any office. The requested information can be obtained with just a few clicks on the mouse. Some websites even allow their users to test their system for free.
